“When it comes to wine…It doesn’t matter if the glass is half full or half empty. There is clearly room for more.”
My name is Chesney Sneyd. I was born in Port Elizabeth and moved to Durbanville, Cape Town at a young age.
Living in the heart of the Durbanville wine valley, it became almost impossible to not fall in love with the beautiful wine farms. Once I reached the legal age I explored the wonders of the various wines and acquired the taste of it immediately. I love nothing more than spending a summer afternoon at different wine farms in and around the Cape Town area, appreciating the beautiful views while sipping on a glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc with family and friends.
I love the outdoors and together with the love for wine, sport is my passion. I am an ex- Western Province hockey player and currently still playing in the Durbanville Grand Challenge team.
When reality kicks in, I am a third year Business Science Marketing student at the University of Cape Town. I aspire to end up in the Food and Wine industry once I have completed my degree and hope to work for leading international wine companies promoting wines all across the world. I wish to travel and gain insights before opening up my own company based in South Africa.
About my blog
The Western Cape region is famous for their beautiful landscape, vineyards and award winning wines. Many South Africans as well as international tourists flock into the Cape to experience the wonders of these scenic wine valleys. We are extremely luckily to be able to experience historic sites such as Constantia together with the vintage valleys of Stellenbosch and Paarl all within the same town. Join me in exploring the wine farms that the Western Cape has to offer, while I share with you my experiences of the only the best farms around… Because life is simply “too short to waste on cheap wine!”
